Social Media Success Center Appoints David Lieder As Company President

(EMAILWIRE.COM, October 21, 2011 ) Raleigh, NC -- The Social Media Success Center announced today that David Lieder has accepted the position of company President. This comes as SMSC expands operations to include new media and political clients. Mr. Lieder is a marketing strategist and writer, speaker and teacher on a variety of topics. He also has extensive knowledge and experience with online marketing and online technology including creating social media strategies for high profile clients.

Mr. Lieder has started businesses in the United States for over 30 years and says that the internet is

is going through another major change, primarily because of how people use the it. "The business world was focused on creating better software in the cloud, and now we all find out that people just wanna have fun and chat on Facebook. Its a real wake-up call to all us geeks that think the web is very sophisticated. If you look at how people spend their time and money, the web is more of an extension of people's private lives, and maybe we should have learned something from the #1 industry on the internet since day one which has been pornography: although I don't want to be in the porn business, it certainly shows us that the web is more of an entertainment tool than a business tool, and the sooner we realize that as marketers, the sooner we will be able to achieve our marketing goals online."

"I intend to help Social Media Success Center add Public relations to the marketing mix for clients. Public relations is a big part of image development and content syndication even in the online world, but it is a lost art right at the moment. Public relations and publicity is what most clients need to have added to their marketing plans."

Lieder says he also plans to add more SMSC salespeople in the USA, who will be required to pass a rigorous 50-hour training program that has been created by Lieder and SMSC specifically for building their sales team.

Mr. Lieder believes that the key to successful marketing in the future will be to view the web as an extension of our personal lives, and not as a virtual replacement. "There really is not an internet or virtual world, the truth is that we all still live in a physical world, we have our personal lives and we just use the internet as a tool. At the end of the day, life is still about simple things like who we know and what kind of food we get to eat today. That's why people spend six hours on Facebook every day, its not about the web, its about having fun and surviving in the world, who we are going to date and marry and what music we like, what movie is important, really the entire internet world is just a widget for the masses to use to get to know each other."

Lieder says that Facebook is a sign that most venture capital firms and investors missed what the web was really about. "Most people in the developed nations of earth spend more time on Facebook than they do on any other human activity except for sleep. So what does that tell us? It says that the web is really more of a toy or a way to build human relationships and all these geeky visions of software dominance are going to the trashcan while the public chats on Facebook. So much for the arrogant venture capitalists of the last 15 years who focused on the technology of it, now they can go on Facebook and tell their handful of buddies how much money they lost because they got it wrong."

David Lieder says that publicity, PR, journalism and good writing are skill sets that have been lost because of the influx of untrained and rogue internet marketers into the marketing world, who really have little or no idea of what they are doing, thus polluting the marketing landscape for everyone. He says, "The interesting thing about the rush to get on the internet is that valuable techniques in PR, publicity and street level marketing like direct mail are now forgotten, but that can be good because few marketers are using these techniques, and right now it is commonly known in the higher levels of IM intelligence that direct mail is much more effective than ever before, because everyone has forgotten about it. So dropping a piece of junk mail in your snail mail and sending it to a prospect's physical mailbox is 100 times more effective now than it was 20 years ago, even though the web is so big, because everyone has forgotten about direct mail, and that includes other real world marketing tools that are more effective now than ever before. These are high value, high results tools that can push a marketing campaign over the top. The best marketing approach is a balanced marketing campaign, preferably a campaign that is actually written down on paper and not just a bunch of ideas in someone's head."

Lieder says that his goals for Social Media Success Center focus on stabilizing production processes with agile development methodology, and to bring more traditional media into the marketing mix to integrate with web marketing. "Social Media Success Center excels at creating these processes and helping clients evolve their marketing to be ready for Web 3.0. If Web 2.0 was the cloud and dynamic websites, then Web 3.0 is social media and the rejection of thousands of SAAS apps that are bloated and a waste of time. In my opinion, Web 3.0 should also be the integration of a balance between internet and the physical world, including traditional marketing with online marketing, including telecom and television, and having the web serve our daily lives, rather than trying to do everything virtually."
