As far as payscale, the national average pay for police officers is around $58,000 a year. FBI agents are on average paid the highest at $119,000 per year. Criminal investigators or police detectives earn around $80,000. As in most professions, pay is dependent upon factors such as location, level of education, qualifications and experience.
